Staff - David
Loar, Lead Pastor

David Loar has been the lead pastor of
Fairlawn West Church since 1995. He has been serving local
United Church of Christ congregations since 1975. You can

Presently David is the president of
Interfaith Hospitality
Network of Summit County, part of the organizing committee
for a new Akron ecumenical
faith based
organizing project, treasurer of the
Firestone High School Soccer
Booster Club, and the annual leader of the
Fairlawn
West Canoe Club whitewater canoe trips. He is a
graduate of Eden Theological Seminary, a UCC related seminary in
Webster Groves, MO (a suburb of St. Louis) and Hanover College
in Hanover, IN. He does a lot of ministry in conversation
with folks numerous days of the week at the
Nervous Dog Coffee Bar
(at 1520 West Market Street about a mile east of the Fairlawn
West bldg), and he is specifically there every Friday afternoon
1:30-4:30 pm. He has some avocations beyond canoeing of
swimming, hiking, gardening, and singing. David and his
wife Martha (a 1st grade teacher at
Old Trail School) are the
parents of Kate who is a student at
Heidelberg College in
Tiffin, OH and Molly who is a student at the
Firestone High School Visual & Performing Arts School.
