Fairlawn West Partners in Ministry (aka "members and friends"),

This Sunday in the 9:30 am worship service we are sharing in celebration of the baptism of Max Sitko and will be presenting children's story Bibles to parents of younger children.  The theme is "The Story."  There is also the Taize meditation service at 11:00 am.  That service is starting to grow.

Thanks to the folks who helped out at the Miller Ave UCC Lunch on Us last Saturday.  There are a host of opportunities for reaching out to others through Fairlawn West.  The annual Spaghetti Supper fund raiser for the Williard Food Pantry will be Friday, Nov 9th.  This is the largest fund raiser for the pantry.  We can use your help.  And the Sew 'N Sell group is raffling off their beautiful quilt with the money going into a special mission project.  Tickets are available in the front lobby on Sundays.

The last "Caller" mailed newsletter took 10 days to be delivered.  We found out a week after we mailed it that the postal service has slowed down their delivery of bulk mail up to two weeks.  So, we will try to adjust.

See you at the picnic!

octagonChurch Picnic Sept 30th
It's this Sunday, September 30th at
The Octagon Shelter in The Ledges section of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.  This is in the same are of the park where we had last year's picnic, but a different shelter.  We will start at noon with the meal, share in singing, hiking and games.  Bring your own table service and a food dish to share in the potluck portion of the meal.  We will grill hot dogs and hamburgers.  If you can help with the grilling, let the office know office@fairlawnwest.org.  We will sing, hike, and play outdoor games.  Bring  your games to use.  If you can help with set up and/or clean up, please contact the office  also.

Todd Eisinger at Interntaional Special Olympics
We had a powerful time in commissioning Todd Eisinger before he took off with the US team to the Special Olympics in China.  Follow Todd's expereince and his competition at the following sites: US team and Todd's blog.  His family will be flying over in a week for the games.  To read the article from the Akron Beacon Journal written by Jim Carney about Todd's journey, go to http://www.ohio.com/news/9973001.html.

 Fairlawn West Preschool
Not everyone around here realizes that we have our own preschool that runs during the week.  We have around 60 children in it.  The Director is Julie Staiger.

Here are some items from their October newsletter:
- Stacey Downing, a parent of twins in the school, will be leading a "Mind Body Strength" class on Thursdays, 5:30-6:30 pm beginning Oct 4th.  Bring a mat and exercise/stability ball if you have one.  The cost is $6.00 per class or $35.00 for 7 weeks.  Babysitting is available for $2.00 per child.  This is focused around yoga and is open to Fairlawn West folks beyond the preschool.
- They are having a Grafs Growers field trip and hay ride on Oct 5.
- Family Night will be October 25th and the Halloween Party Oct 31st.
- In November they will be having a cookie dough fund raiser.
- They have additional classes the children can sign up for including yoga, kindergym, art, and ballet.
