Steve has served as Music Leader at Fairlawn-West since 2005.  He learned to play guitar as a teenager, and played in various groups in high school, college and afterwards. Steve has a keen interest in applying contemporary music styles to congregational worship songs that reflect a progressive Christian message. He composes songs for worship at Fairlawn-West and also uses music from secular and contemporary Christian sources. Steve leads the BASIC (“Brother and Sisters in Christ”) Band, which includes guitar, keyboard, bass, drums and percussion. An Akron native and former social studies teacher, he is married to Debbie who is currently attending seminary in preparation for the ministry. They also have an online business, 4 Corners Maps, which specializes in map products for education, business and decorative display.
