A COMMUNITY OF CARING

How can you join Fairlawn-West to help others in our community?

Akron Safety Town

Our congregation was instrumental in starting this important safety program for children entering kindergarten in Akron Public Schools. Each summer, students enjoy a free week of fun and games that help them learn important safety lessons.

Habitat for Humanity

We support our local Summit County chapter of this international ministry and help make homeownership a reality for families. Twice a year we take part in build days in which the congregation gathers

at a job site to work on a new home.

Faithful Feeders

Members assist in providing food for various church events, special services and occasional meals for the housebound or convalescent.

Family Promise

Several times a year, our church hosts parents and children involved in this program that keeps families intact even as they deal with instability. For one week, we serve as the host site and provide accommodations for families. Church members help by staying at the church, providing transportation and preparing meals

for the grateful families.

GapPacks for Resnik CLC

Our members collect nonperishable foods and pack them into backpacks for food insecure children at Judith A. Resnik Community Learning Center, our next door neighbor. We always can use donations of items such as single-serve fruit cups, soup and peanut butter. We also need help with packing and distribution.
